Meet Amanda Poole

Happy Monday everyone!  I’m Amanda and my story starts in a small town in southern New Jersey, called Pennsville.  For the ten years of my life, I grew up in a nice home with my parents and two sisters and then one day, my parents decided to sell our house.  Since this first house, I have lived in two apartments and six different houses, not including the two dorms that I stayed in while in college, house that I rented and now my current home.  Most of these moves occurred in 4-5 years and were all relatively close in mileage.

I moved to Delaware when I was about 13 and when I was 15, my sisters and I moved in with my aunt.  She is my hero, the one who shaped me into the person that I am today and the reason why I aim to succeed in life.  She is the sweetest and most giving person that I know.

I was hired for my first job at 16 years old at Pat’s Pizzeria as a cashier.  I have since been working in the hospitality business. I stayed there for about a year and a half when I moved onto a hostess position with Ruby Tuesdays until I left for college.  After a few months in college without a job, I realized just how quickly I can spend money that I don’t have so I got my first serving position at a small burger place called Cheeburger Cheeburger on Main Street since I wasn’t old enough to serve alcohol just yet.

Once I turned 19 and got tired of serving milkshakes and burgers, I decided to apply around in Newark, BWW being one of the places.  A few weeks later, I received a phone call from a place called Stone Balloon.  I had never even heard of the place due to all the scaffolding around Washington House, even though I worked three stores down from it. I accepted the position and almost immediately loved working there.  My coworkers became my family and to this day, I still talk to many of the friends that I made at good old SBA.  While working at SBA, I also had an internship for about 3 months and started my first “real job” in an office after graduation, however I didn’t care for the work that I was actually doing (I was working with a lot of retirement accounts – blah).  While I was serving at SBA one day, I saw the flyer for a bookkeeping position at the H5H office.  I decided not to apply, thinking it wasn’t what I would really enjoy doing… Then one day, my sister tells me that she ran into someone while she was out and she hands me the bookkeeping flyer (Come to find out, she was talking to Katie Rullo! lol). So, I figured that I’d apply. I ended up starting here to do payroll, then was given benefits, and now I’m also doing bookkeeping!  So here I am today, loving what I do every day and continually feeling like I’m learning!

Due to my past and the way that I’ve grown up, I hold myself to very high standards and genuinely try to do my best and become the best person that I can be. I  also enjoy lifting a lot!  I try to push myself hard mentally at work and physically at the gym, every day.  I ultimately would like to get my last 9 school credits to become eligible to take the CPA exam but I’m taking my time with this goal for now.

Thank you for taking the time to read, have a great week! 🙂
